what defines me

The object that defines me is a sponge. The purpose of the sponge is to soak in liquids as well as to use the liquid for cleaning. The reason for my metaphor as being a sponge because I soak in knowledge that I am unaware of.  A sponge is not biased to anything. However, The sponge is not naive.

To be honest, I can not doubt anyone for their belief. The information that is soak in I keep it with me. Personally, I do not want to be the person to doubt someone when they are right. Recently, I misspelled the world weird, and another person told me that is the incorrect way to spell the word. I want the proof that the word was spelled incorrectly. The person looked it up in the dictionary and I was wrong.

Another example of soaking in information for the better is the talks I have with the older generation. I feel as though I gain respect from many people from the older generation. during those conversations, the topics are involving the new generation of kids. To sum things up, the new generation is a disaster. Kids doing what they want, being spoiled, and talking back to elders. I admire the people who see how different I am from the rest of the new generation. I learned alot talking to many uncles, aunts, and cousins around Philadelphia. Even though the older people did not like how the new generation formed at least they did not classify me as a spoiled rotten kid.

reflection #1

The progress in WIFYS is giving me the confidence to express myself in a creative way.  Back in high school, I use to hate having to type long papers on various topics that was assigned to my classes. I found typing very boring. To be truthfully honest, English was on of the pet peeves I had in high school beside my peers.  The teacher at the time before my departure from high school did not make it comfortable for me to even give English a chance. According, to my English teacher now English I really enjoy this English class. In order for me to learn well in someone's class, I want to see what type of person the teacher is. First, I will greet the teacher with respect to see the stimulation of the teacher. Usually, I expect professors with doctorate degrees to be cold and heartless beings once I step foot in college.   By saying "hello" or "good morning sir", or "good day Dr.". When I say so thing to ones of higher intelligence I get a good vibe from it. Back in high school I didn't get that vibe from most teachers.  The teachers were stuck up with at most a bachelor's degree to their name. According to me you should not be acting like that when your not that well rounded in your practice.

The reason for me to throw dirt on my high school teachers because I am making a comparison of my college professors to my high school teachers.  I never had a English teacher that gave a crap about the students in my senior year. I guess they see us as graduation-bound so they would cheat to get us there or prevent us from touching a diploma because they don't like a certain student. I knew Dr. Shannon for about close to a month and I feel prepared for her class. I know I can not put the full blame on the teachers, It was my fault for being a bit rebellious to their so called "power". To the teachers that are helping me become a better student in their class just like Dr. Shannon, I would be Dean's list bound. I like a teacher as a person first. I instantly have this good vibe. The vibe I have will be my drive to pass her class.

WIFYS got me to enjoy typing. I used to hate typing back in grade school. In my school we typed once a month. In college, I enjoy bringing my laptop and transporting it to Wright hall for my writing class. I remember back I use computers and laptops for social media purposes such as Facebook and twitter and instagram later on in life. Typing papers was never my forte.  I type too slow to type a essay and a research paper. I get bored after a couple hours. within a couple hours I would still be on the first page.

From being in this class I can fully express myself.  High school back in Philadelphia I could not do that. I feel confident when I step foot in Writing Intensive class. Dr. Shannon gets a kick out of my greetings in the morning when I walk in.  I have a hypothesis that if I just stay consistent from greetings and farewells to the performance in class there is no way I should fail WIFYS.

3 tattoo quotes that stood out to me

"The lesson I hope to teach others through my life is that it's important to see past appearances" stood out to me from the article "Tattoos tell my real story" because people in modern society will make any assumptions about a person that is interested in decorating their body with colorful ink. David Paul Strohecker is a very educated man. The fact that his tattoos he have on his body will make people assume he is not a smart human that has a minimum wage job being a musician in a band. It is sad to say that could hold him back from pursuing a good job in the future. He wants to show that his tattoos portray the problems the United is facing in the country.

"The ink might be nothing more than sugar cane juice mixed with campfire soot. The important part is the meaning behind the marks". The quote above stood out to me because it gives you a image on how people during that time mark themselves. In modern times we had ink to permanently decorated themselves. During that time, they had an alternative to ink. Sugar cane juice and soot was a tool to decorating their body. The tools they use to make their tattoos is irrelevant. The purpose being the tools is the vital source.

"The 25 most ridiculous tattoos ever are likely to cause at least mild grinning…or in some cases potential depression and loss of hope in humanity". The quote explains how people will put anything on their body nowadays. People do not have a moral purpose of getting tattoos. Tattoos lost its purpose in the modern world. People use tattoos to express how weird they are. In the article, the pictures I have seen making me shake my head in disappointment.  People are wasting their money. tattoos like the ones I have seen is a bad investment. the money you had for tattoos could have been going towards other things like a person's utilities, food, gas for their cars and other living expenses.

Tattoos represent the images you have belief in. In most cases, people are afraid to speak on their beliefs so they showcase it by having images on their body. Quotes, phrases, acronyms, and pictures are a away to showcase one's belief.  a lot of people are very judgmental for people with tattoos. People with tattoos are considered of lower class civilians.

How my name defines me and will i change my name

My name defines me as being courage, confident,  sophisticated, intelligent, and  charismatic. When people hear the name Robert, most people implying that I am intelligent. My humble response to that compliment would be "I am open minded and not bias that is all.  Although, you do have people that think otherwise. Usually a person would feel some type of way, but if you have lots of people say good things about you it usually trumps over the bad things people say about you.  My name also defines my confidence. Even though, I may not be good at most activites and other hobbies, I will have that attitude like I do know what I am doing.

"Blue America"

A quote from "One Nation, Slightly Divisible" stood out to me. The quote states that "In my world the easiest way to categorize people is by headroom needs". The quote stated above made me wonder about the Blue side of America's way of living. People who live in rural society in America like objects and material to be much bigger. Examples such as big truck with huge tires, big houses, and go to huge cathedrals for sanctuaries. According to Red America, bigger is better. Bigger material is surprisingly cheaper in the rural areas of the United States than those of urban areas. Less people are in the rural areas, therefore, little demand for the item.

I relate to the red part of America. I live in a urban community. I enjoy fast food, malls, and technology. Red America is referring to the cities of America.  My hometown is Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Philadelphia is a big city with lights, traffic, fashion trends, and social media fanatics. Social media such as twitter and instagram are very popular. The use of hashtags is unbelievable.  Another thing people of red America find fun to enjoy is also memes. Memes are jokes or puns based off of real life situations that showcased in a picture. also, people of red America enjoy restaurants whether its fast food or not. In the city, people majority eat fast food. Fast food is quick to get and eat as people head for work in the morning.

poem brainstorming

North Philadelphia

I love walking in the neighborhood I was born and raised in. I am not directly saying I was neighborhood famous but alot of people know me as I walk down the street. I see guys I went to school with. they sitting on the steps hanging out. As I look around the neighborhood I see kids on their bikes laughing having a good time. I see the older generation on the porch talking about the good times.

I smell chinese food platters, cheesesteak platters, chips, pizza, cigarettes, and marijuana. The smell is probably overwhelming to most people, but you just get use to it. The reason for the scents to be smelled very often because the corner stores share the same section of the neighborhood. The smell of various foods that are cooked combined into one big junk food smell.

I hear laughing, as well as a few controversies,  such as you mad or naw?, you start drawn, yo!!!!! my man tryna bag, you op, I got no rap, you tryna mix?, cuz, bro, she badd, we love the hispanics,we call them  papis in their stores, like papi let me a get a......   .

WE played videogames like nba 2k,  sometimes madden, sometimes call of duty. majority of sports fans are basketball fans. lebron james fans are living in north philly, alot of Durant fans are living in north philly, people are a big fan of love and hip hop atl, bad girls club, watching nba games is a must. hardly any philly sports fans, Most people are dedicated to the eagles and the phillies, the rest of the sports teams are irrelevant.
